My first wool sweater purse

Here it is. This is my first attempt. I made the lining inside with little sweater pockets made from the ribbed sleeves. One for keys, one for lipstick and one for a cell phone. I put a pocket on the outside. Little bit off, but passable. I can't do much hand sewing...hard for me to grip a needle. I did hand sew the lining in though. What do you think? I used a tuscan, olive themed lining for this one. It did take its own shape in the making of it. Since it is not perfect, I will carry this one to test its durability.

This next photo is a snapshot of the inside of the purse.

This was fun, but I have to put off making another until next week. I'm going in to work the night shift tonight and tomorrow, so, until later...

Thanks for blogging with me today.

Aunt George,
I just love the way that came out, I sure wished you lived near me so you could teach me how to do all this really nice sewing. Maybe I will get brave and buy a couple of old sweaters and give it a try. Are yo going to make more of them? I bet that felted wool would make really nice pin cushions.

Thanks Nancy Jo,
It is not perfect, but it was fun. Go ahead and try it, it's not hard at all. The hard part is picking a lining. One of the sweaters is going to be a really cute tote bag. It has school scenes on one side and the bag has apples. The sleeves have a matching apple weave. It will be a big one. I want to do sectioned folder holders and possibly give it as a teacher gift at the end of the year. Hmm...I might just have to put that one up for sale on Etsy or something. Thanks again, and I wish we lived closer. We could trade sewing lessons for thrifting lessons! *g*

Auntie *g*,
It came out darling! I keep telling myself I don't need another hobby...but gee that is cute! Or I could buy one off of you if you do Etsy! You girls are right, we need a big farmgirl neighborhood!

I've been carrying this bag for a few days now and I love it. The handle is soft and comfortable in the hand. One girl at work called it cozy! Two girls at work want one now too!! Thanks for the nice comments and I'm so glad you stopped by for a visit at my house!
